I have been shaving with a straight razor for a year now, and during that time, I have also learned to restore and hone straight razors. I also had the privilege of learning to hone, traditional Japanese straight razors, from a retired Japanese barber.
I hope to be able to encourage as many people as possible to take up the art of straight razor shaving, because it is the cheapest way to shave after an initial investment. If you add up just how much money you waste per year on those multibladed cartridge contraptions, then compare it to the start up costs of shaving with a straight, you will quickly learn which is more economical, and which is friendlier for the environment.
Some people have the idea in their head, that shaving with a straight razor can be dangerous and or lethal. The reality is, they are no more dangerous than a cartridge or double edge razor.
